Fish Head noodle..my style

Thinking of what to cook for my guest tomorrow... hmm Dapur Magika Kak Lin is back to normal business, probably it's time to introduce them for the first time my fish head noodle.... I was introduced to this dish by my chinese colleagues and we always had this at Grandmama's Kitchen, Pavilion... it's quite common to get this dish anywhere around town...but the question is whether it is certified halal or not....

I make a point to google this recipe and asked my friend on the basic ingredients... and there you are....

You will need :

Ingredients :
Fish Head
Onion
Garlic
Fresh Ginger
Tomatoes
Preserve Vege
Coriander leaves
Evaporated milk
A pinch of salt
Beehoon
A drop of love

and how you cook it....

I just tumis the onion, garlic and ginger together with the fish head...then pour in some water for the soup..let it simmer... actually if you do this long enough with a slow fire, you don't need the milk to thicken the soup...the fresh fish will add the natural sweetness in the soup...and have the milky look.... but i did it express way... once simmer then I add all other vegetables and that's it...some chinese add rice wine to the soup... but I didn't. it doesn't impact much on the taste....serve it with thick bee hoon and hubby like it with cut chillies.....

and here you are... a bowl of fish head noodle to be enjoyed....

Mount Bromo adventure

On the second night in Surabaya, as what we have planned, that night tepat jam 11.00 pm kami bertolak ke Gunung Bromo untuk menyaksikan sendiri matahari terbit or kata omputih, sun rise. Perjalanan ke sana dari Kota Surabaya mengambil masa lebih kurang 4 jam. dan kami tiba di sana lebih kurang jam 2.30 pagi... perjalanan kami untuk mendaki ke Gunung Bromo harus menggunakan 4 wheel drive.... perjalanan megelilingi bukit di lereng lereng gaung dilitupi dengan tanaman sayuran yang segar...it took another 1 and a half hours to reach the peak....

Masa kami sampai di port untuk 4 wheel, keadaan sekeliling still gelap gelita... and the main issue here is the weather...berasak-asak penjual muffler and snow cap datang serbu we all... we all tak de pilihan except just to buy those stuffs which can keep us warm.... sejuk nye sampai ke tulang...

the four wheel cost us IDR750,000.... and according to the driver, we have to get to the peak fast, if not the traffic can be congested... memang rata-rata yang datang ke Gunung Bromo ni untuk Sunrise.....

Ni la rupe 4 wheel yang boleh menawan ke puncak Gunung Bromo tu..... memang curam gunung nye....

So, we all sampai ke gate untuk ke puncak tu still awal... and sempat minum kopi secawan....sambil memanaskan badan dengan bara api....

Kami teruskan perjalanan ke puncak, walaupun destinasi yang kami nak tuju ni , kami sendiri pun belum pasti ke mana... cuma bergantung kepada driver yang bawak kami tu.... so setelah sekitar 15 minit menyambung perjalanan, sekali lagi kami diserbu dengan penunggang kuda... pada awal nya ai was not so incline to ride on the horse to get us to the top... but after a few steps of walking, then we turn back and decided to get on the horse ride... again it cost us IDR100,000 per pax to get to the sunrise viewing spot... it's worth paying for the horse ride... we are not the regular hikers... and came there unplanned.. to be safe, it is strongly recommended to get a horse ride.. from the peak we can see the Mount Bromo.. which we'll be our next destination...

Ni la moment yang kami tunggu-tunggu... memang sukar nak digambarkan dengan kata-kata... the scenary is very beautiful.. and pengalaman yang we all lalui ni memang akan menjadi kenangan abadi dalam catatan kehidupan kami... betapa indahnya ciptaan Allah yang maha esa....Masya Allah....

Tak jemu-jemu kami melihat keindahan bumi ciptaan Allah ini... dengan suasana hening, cuaca dingin ...kabus tebal menelitupi gunung....memang sukar digambarkan dengan kata-kata.....

Keadaan kabus masih agak tebal..and the driver advised us to have a coffee break before we climb to the mount bromo...

Masa berlalu tanpa kami sedar... we're back on the horse ride to get to our jeep for our next destination... Gunung Bromo...

The horse can't bring us to the peak..... so we're back on our feet to climb the few hundreds narrow steps staircase....with the sulphur..i felt so suffocated and hard to breathe....

And we finally reached to the top.... and worth the effort...the view from up here is so nice... but my heart is pumping fast.... as the peak is a bit narrow and if you are not used to heights ...can be a bit shaky.... my tip is... should remain calm and be patient (photo etiquette)... even if you're excited to snap photos...please make sure safety comes first... take turns... as your second of waiting can avoid you getting slips and lost balance.....

and you can have your best shot from up here.....

and our next stop is called Savannah...... banyak film yang shooting kat sini.... ala-ala kuch kuch hota hei....

.
.
.

and finally , kita stop dekat pasir berbisik....... macam berada ditengah-tengah padang pasir...... pasir hitam halus berdebu..... memang adventure....

okay... i guess this is the best i can write for now.... time is so limited for me now but i don't intend to delay anymore....more post in the pipeline.... and best thing now is that my culinary post will back to active mode as my kitchen is now ready for exciting menus to be shared.... Insya Allah....
